Overview

Keep our original lands, waters and wildlife beautiful, for all, forever

Join us in conserving and restoring our natural abundance so that we can all enjoy a healthy and secure future.

Tackling biodiversity loss and climate change—while creating benefits for people, business, and nature—is one of the most urgent tasks of our time. Protecting land and water is among the most effective ways to restore biodiversity, slow global warming, and support health, recreation, and sustainable economies.

Canada, BC, and First Nations governments have joined the United Nations in committing to protect 30% of land and sea by 2030.

Through the BC Conservation Fund, we invest in inspired people and impactful projects that accelerate land and freshwater conservation, strengthen communities and economies, and honour First Nations leadership in stewardship and governance.

Preserve and restore ecological integrity

We identify and prioritize ecologically important and biodiverse areas across BC, reduce threats to biodiversity, and conserve priority places with special focus on primary forests, including old growth. These efforts ensure nature’s richness endures for generations.

Support First Nations leadership and shared stewardship

We honour and advance First Nations leadership by supporting community visioning, readiness, and internal mandates for conservation. Through resources, partnerships, and government-to-government agreements, we foster shared stewardship and elevate traditional and local knowledge.

Strengthen collaboration and public participation

Conservation thrives when people work together. We promote knowledge sharing, dialogue, and trust, coordinate investments, and celebrate successes. By engaging the public, inspiring action, and fostering a culture of conservation, we grow awareness and participation across BC.

Catalyze conservation financing and a sustainable economy

The Fund leverages matching contributions, seeds long-term financing, and diversifies funding sources to sustain stewardship. By linking conservation with stable jobs, education, innovation, and entrepreneurship, we create solutions that support both communities and nature.
