A Legacy of Adventure and Stewardship: Gibbons Whistler Joins Sea to Sky Legacy Fund

In Whistler, adventure is everywhere, from the glow of Vallea Lumina to the rush of a zipline over old-growth forest. Starting today, with those thrills comes something more: a contribution to protecting the natural spaces that make it all possible.

Gibbons Whistler, through their subsidiary The Adventure Group, has joined the Sea to Sky Legacy Fund, becoming the second business to commit ongoing support to conservation efforts in one of BC’s most ecologically rich corridors.

A $1 contribution from every guest experience—whether snowmobiling, rafting, ziplining, or hiking—will go directly to the Legacy Fund, administered by BC Parks Foundation. These funds support local and regional priorities across four key areas: stewardship, safety, accessibility, and experiences.

“The places that move you should move you to protect them,” says Sam Coutts, Director of Experiences at Gibbons Whistler. “We’re lucky to work in one of the most beautiful regions in the world, and we believe we have a responsibility to give back to the lands that give so much to our guests. Supporting the Legacy Fund helps ensure that the magic of these experiences lasts well beyond a single visit.”

“The Legacy Fund model works because it’s rooted in connection,” says Heather Altas, VP of Philanthropy at the BC Parks Foundation. “When businesses that depend on nature invest in protecting it, everyone benefits, both today and for generations to come. Gibbons Whistler is helping to safeguard the wild beauty, wildlife, and wonder of the Sea to Sky region - creating a legacy that will inspire and sustain forever.”

Sea to Sky Gondola was the first to join the Legacy Fund, and in just two years, the Fund has already delivered meaningful results: A seasonal BC Parks Ranger now provides much-needed support in the Shannon Basin, engaging visitors, monitoring wildlife, and helping gather vital ecological data.

At the same time, BC Parks Foundation’s Discover Parks Ambassadors have reached thousands of visitors through nature walks, Jerry’s Rangers programs, and other interactive activities at Alice Lake, Shannon Falls, and Stawamus Chief

Upgrades to the solar system at Elfin Lakes shelter have made backcountry stays safer during avalanche season, while new urine-diverting toilets at Helm Creek are improving sanitation and reducing environmental impact in one of Garibaldi Park’s busiest areas.

Now, with Gibbons Whistler on board, BC Parks Foundation hopes to see others follow, including local tourism operators, lodges, and outdoor experience providers that thrive because of the beauty around them.

Because when community and conservation come together, there's no limit to what we can protect.
