Roll to Good Health with PaRx and Lime
In an exciting new partnership, PaRx and Lime are joining forces to encourage British Columbians and Canadians to embrace the health benefits of nature in an eco-friendly and fun way.
Just in time for World Nature Conservation Day, this collaboration will offer up to 35% off Lime trips to users with a PaRx prescription, making it easier than ever to scoot to outdoor spaces and enjoy the rejuvenating power of nature.
“Our patients and prescribers frequently identify lack of transportation as one of the biggest barriers to nature access,” says Dr. Melissa Lem, a family physician and Director of PaRx, a national initiative of the BC Parks Foundation.
“Thankfully, companies like Lime make it easier to get to green spaces, which both improves their health and inspires people to protect them. I can’t wait to see all the positive ripple effects our new collaboration will have for people and the planet.”
Elise Girardin, a Clinical Counsellor and PaRx prescriber in North Vancouver, agrees: “Because we're surrounded by such breathtaking beauty, it can mislead folks to presume barriers don’t exist for our residents. But I've known many clients hindered by a lack of personal transportation, and I can’t wait to let them know about this partnership!"
PaRx encourages all riders to follow public health guidelines and local bylaws by wearing helmets and wrist guards, riding at safe speeds, signaling and using bells when appropriate, staying alert for road hazards, avoiding riding under the influence, and using lights between sunset and sunrise.
As the city of Vancouver prepares for Lime's launch later this summer, patients with a PaRx prescription in Kelowna, Coquitlam, the North Shore, and Richmond (and more cities across Canada) can take advantage of this offer today, hopping on a sleek and easy-to-use Lime scooter already zipping through those cities.
PaRx, Canada’s national nature prescription program, has been connecting people to nature since 2020. A vast body of scientific research shows that regular doses of nature improve a wide range of health conditions, including high blood pressure, heart disease, lung disease, depression and anxiety. In children, outdoor time can improve immune function, eyesight, school performance and reduce symptoms of ADHD.
More than 14,000 healthcare professionals across Canada have registered to prescribe nature with PaRx, including an impressive 15% of all physicians in BC.
Nature is becoming the fourth pillar of health, just as important for staying healthy as diet, exercise and good sleep. By providing better access to nature through innovative collaborations with micromobility solutions like Lime, PaRx is revolutionizing how we think about and access good health and well-being.
